
P. J. Connelly met his wife Jaclyn while he was attending ECU, where he played baseball and obtained a degree in finance.

After college, he played professional baseball for a couple of years with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim until returning to Greenville to start a career in real estate. In 2008, he married Jaclyn and they have two daughters, Mary Kate and Caroline. P. J. and Jaclyn opened their real estate business, Connelly Properties in 2007. Jaclyn is an active member of the Junior League of Greenville, and P. J. is involved with a number of local organizations.
P. J. served on the City of Greenville's Planning and Zoning Commission before being elected to serve on the Greenville City Council representing District 5. In 2017, he was elected to his first term as Mayor of Greenville.
